Overview
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Medical Assistant to join our startup dermatology practice. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting clinical and administrative operations, ensuring a seamless and welcoming experience for our patients as we build our practice from the ground up.
Responsibilities:
- Warmly greet patient and escort to exam room.
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure all necessary instruments and supplies are ready for procedures.
- Assist the physician with medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatologic procedures.
- Take patient histories, record vital signs, and document visit accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure care and treatment plans.
- Perform tasks such as specimen collection, wound care, and suture removal as directed.
- Handle administrative duties, including, scheduling appointments, managing patient inquiries, assisting with prior authorizations for medications, reviewing laboratory and pathology results with patients as directed and coordinating referrals.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
- Clean, sterilize, and inventory all medical equipment and instruments and run autoclave.
- Load and unload laundry and perform other housekeeping responsibilities as directed.
- Ensure inventory of medical supplies is maintained and restocked as needed.
- Be willing to adapt to new responsibilities and cross-train as needed.
- Support practice growth by providing input on workflow improvements and assisting with startup-related tasks.
- Protect patient's confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines.
- Provide a welcoming and reassuring environment for all patients.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a certified Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience required.
- Prior experience in dermatology or a similar medical field is preferred.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems; experience with EMA EMR is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to the dynamic needs of a startup environment.
- A passion for patient care and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.50 - $21.00 per hour
