Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant will report directly to the Office Manager but work directly under the supervision of the plastic surgeon in examinations and procedures, while maintaining patient’s notes in the electronic medical record. Position requires medical assistants to be familiar with the processes and techniques in Pre-op, Post-Op, Follow-Up, and Consultation appointments. Responsible for maintaining clean, well-equipped exam and or procedure rooms, administering patient’s prescriptions and educating patients on the different types of procedures that we perform at the facility.
Required Background
- 2+ years of MA experience in aesthetic dermatology, med spa, or plastic surgery REQUIRED!
- Experience maintaining and updating patient’s medical records electronically is required.
- Ability to draw blood and prepare lab tests
- Experience following up with patients/clients regarding treatments, test results, prescription fulfillment is required.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and clinical skills
- Experience removing sutures and wound cleaning is preferred.
- Interview patients and record their medical history
- Measure patients' vital signs, such as their blood pressure and weight
- Give patients injections or medications as directed by physicians and as permitted by state law
- Maintain inventory of medical and office supplies
Required Skills
- Knowledge of common medical terms, conditions, and treatments.
- Understanding of HIPAA & OSHA regulations.
- Adhere to strict infection control protocols and maintain a clean and sterile environment.
- Must be able to work independently in a busy office, with minimal supervision.
- Clear, concise communication skills.
- Handle patient intake forms, consent forms, and other documentation efficiently and accurately.
- Ability to listen to and gain the confidence of patients.
- Meticulous attention to detail and organization skills.
- Team player with high positive energy.
- Strong sense of professionalism, courtesy, and respect for customers and team members.
- Knowledge of Nextech (EMR) a plus
- Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments in an organized fashion.
- Fluent in English, with excellent writing and grammatical skills. Bilingual a plus.
