Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mass communications, marketing, digital media, social media, journalism or related field; three years of social media experience writing, creating, managing and posting content for an organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Social media certifications preferred. Video production skills preferred. Considerable knowledge of digital media platforms. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong creative, analytical and reporting skills. Ability to build relationships and work in a cross-functional team environment. Strong attention to detail in producing deliverables while understanding big picture objectives and strategy. This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug testing and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. Must be a US citizen or have been a lawful resident of the US for the past ten consecutive years.

Duties

Develops, creates, and distributes internal and external digital content, including videos, photos, graphics, etc. Helps create and maintain a regular publishing schedule and implement a social media content editorial calendar. Monitors, listens, and responds to questions/comments in social media spaces when appropriate. Helps implement digital content creation and social media industry best practices. Monitors trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy, and trends in video and digital content creation. Designs, creates, and manages paid social media campaigns in conjunction with internal customers and creates reports showing campaign results. Monitors content on the police department’s website for routine updates and works with county IST to assess search engine optimization configurations and compliance with accessibility standards/laws. Helps develop and implement social media strategies, including written social media communications plans to complement overall public information campaigns. Oversees design of the department’s social media platforms. Coordinates responses to media/general public information requests about department activities. Responds to emergency communications situations as needed, including after hours and weekends. Serves as a member of the department’s Production Team. Performs other work as required.
